  • Working toward deployment predictability

    In September 2020, the 913th Airlift Group conducted a Strategic Alignment where squadron leaders identified goals that would make the organization a more lethal fighting force. Currently, there are five ongoing process improvement projects that will be individually highlighted in future stories. To keep up with the demand of combatant commanders around the world, experts across the 913th Airlift Group are working behind the scenes to streamline the group’s deployment readiness processes and update projected combat capabilities reports.

  • CSAF releases Action Orders to Accelerate Change Across Air Force

    In August, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr., released his strategic approach entitled Accelerate Change or Lose, in which he described his view of the strategic landscape as Air Force chief of staff and, from that, his emphasis on why change is necessary. The newly-released action orders now represent his call to Airmen to move forward aggressively in the push toward change; the “what” to the first document’s “why.”
  • Department of the Air Force moves Physical Fitness Assessments to April 2021, removes waist measurement from composite score permanently

    To ensure social distancing practices remain in place during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and to give Airmen and Space Professionals time to prepare, testing was delayed from October to January and is now further delayed to April.

    Tina Dane is a veteran of multiple deployments, including a year-long stint in Korea. She spent 9-11 in Germany, fretfully watching the news to see how her home country would fare in the aftermath of that attack. She is not, however, a member of the military. Instead, she holds the exalted and often difficult position of military spouse.

    Senior Airman Mark Stone, a fitness journeyman with the 442d Force Support Squadron, saved a choking person's life using the Heimlich maneuver.
  • 442d Fighter Wing mourns loss of 'Jim Bob' Boyle

    Boyle began his career with the 442d as a Transportation Specialist in 1987, helping the wing move from Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base in Kansas City to Whiteman AFB. His career ended prematurely when he passed away from a cardiac event on October 11, 2020.
