WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- Tech. Sgt. Alexis Holcomb, the wing Historian with the 442d Fighter Wing, participated in a deployment from June 16 to Aug. 23, to support the 501st Combat Support Wing at Royal Air Force Alconbury, England.
Holcomb aided the 501st CSW by completing a four-year operational history report within the two and a half months she was there. She also helped update the wing’s archiving system.
“It’s one thing to know that it’s possible to do that amount of work in a short amount of time, but it’s another thing to actually do it,” said Holcomb.
Holcomb was also able to contribute a historian strategic plan to the 501st CSW in hopes that future historians at the wing will be able to easily track data necessary for their job.
The experience has allowed her to refine her time management skills, office management and program management skills, said Holcomb. She plans to utilize these skills to continue to improve processes within her own office at the 442d FW.
