The annual Combined Federal Campaign officially began in the 442nd Fighter Wing Sept. 30.

The CFC enables Federal employees to donate to the charities and causes of their choice through either a payroll deduction or through a direct contribution.

While traditional reservists in the unit cannot take the payroll-deduction option, full-time civilian and Air Reserve Technician employees can.

"You can make a difference with a small donation," said Capt. Robert Hehan, the wing's coordinator for this year's campaign. "This year's theme is 'I Can' make a difference, feed a child, find a cure, rescue a friend, etc.

"There are literally thousands of worthwhile charities local, regional, national and global that do great work and are worthy of your generous contribution," he said.

Last year the wing raised $2800. This year the 442nd is setting the bar higher and looking to raise $5,000

"But, we will need everyone's support and compassion," Capt. Mehan said. "Each group and the wing staff will have a CFC volunteer who will assist with and collect contributions. Members will be able to contact volunteers and reference charity listings that will be placed in their work centers."

Citizen Airman can access more information online at www.heartlinecfc.com.

"Whether you donate $5 one time, $5 each pay period, or more, you decide which worthy cause receives your contribution, which will certainly make a difference," Capt. Mehan said.

The campaign will end Nov. 12.
