Crew chief consultation

Lt. Col. Ronald Hankes, left, the flight lead for the 303rd Fighter Squadron's Hawgsmoke team for 2006, talks with crew chief, Senior Airman Steve Powell, at an exercise at McChord Air Force Base, Wash., in May 2005. Colonel Hanks, along with team mates Lt. Col. James Mackey, Maj. Stephen Nester and Capt. Brian Leiter, brought the title of Hawgsmoke champions to the 442nd Fighter Wing at Whiteman AFB, Mo. Hawgsmoke is an A-10 bombing and gunnery competition, held every two years, to test A-10 pilots and aircraft in providing close air support. This is the first time the Air Force Reserve's 442nd FW has won the competition, which was held at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz., March 22 to 25.
