An air-to-ground AGM-65 Maverick missile speeds toward its target on the Barry M. Goldwater Range, Ariz., after being fired by a 303rd Fighter Squadron pilot in an Air Force Reserve Command A-10 Thunderbolt II . The Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., reservists from the 442nd Fighter Wing, the 303rd's parent unit, were using the range for live ordnance training while temporarily based at Arizona's Davis-Monthan A.F.B. near Tucson.
