Members of the 442nd Civil Engineer Squadron, who deployed to Kirkuk Air Base, Iraq, for four months from September 2006 to January will receive the Air Force Meritorious Unit Award for their deployment to the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing. During the deployment, the Air Force reservists programmed and worked on more than $4.25 million in infrastructure projects to improve the base and airfieled, as well as ongoing maintenance projects such as road repair. In addition to the civil engineers, approximately 300 resrvists across the 442nd Fighter Wing, were recently honored with the same award for a deployment to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, in 2006. Civil Engineers receive AF Meritorious Unit Award

Members of the 442nd Civil Engineer Squadron, who deployed to Kirkuk Air Base, Iraq, for four months from September 2006 to January will receive the Air Force Meritorious Unit Award for their deployment to the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing. Maj. Rick Mitchell, a 303d Fighter Squadron A-10 Thunderbolt II pilot with the 442d Fighter Wing out of Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., shows a Latvian firefighter some safety features on the A-10 Aug. 26 at Leilvarde Air Base in Latvia. Col. James Macaulay commands the 442d Fighter Wing's Operations Group. He commissioned in 1984 and has since flown nearly 6,000 hours in the OA-37 and A-10. He has flown close air support and ground attack missions in support of Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Deny Flight, Northern Watch, Southern Watch and Allied Force. He has trained more than 400 pilots.
