Bomb wing commander gets A-10 "stick" time

Col. Garrett Harencak, 509th Bomb Wing commander, takes a turn in the 442nd Fighter Wing's A-10 simulator Oct. 25, 2007, at Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo. Colonel Harencak visited the 442nd, an Air Force Reserve Command unit, for the first time since taking command of the 509th in September. The 509th Bomb Wing is the active-duty host unit at Whiteman and flies the B-2 Spirit, or "Stealth," bomber. Pilots from the 442nd FW's 303rd Fighter Squadron familiarized the colonel with the A-10 Thunderbolt II's close air support mission. Colonel Harencak also received a mission briefing on the reserve unit and issues unique to Air Force reservists. (U.S. Air Force photo/Maj. David Kurle)
