Whiteman Air Force Base annually celebrates the holiday season by hosting a base greeting card competition. All organizations, both from the host wing and tenant units, are welcome to compete.  The 442d Fighter Wing entered the large squadron category and competed against the 509th Security Forces and 509th Civil Engineering Squadron.

The 442 FW won the competition and secured 500 dollars in first place prize money from the 509th Bomb Wing MWR Office.

The fighter wing's Public Affairs office, led by Capt. Jeff Kelly, 442d FW Public Affairs Chief, was tasked to produce the card through the creative efforts of Master Sgt. Kent Kagarise and Tech. Sgt. Emily Alley. Kelly accepted the prize money from Whiteman's host unit commander, Brig. Gen. Paul Tibbets.

"Thank you for your hard work and artistic talent," said Kelly. "I was happy to accept $500 on behalf of our wing. It will be split between our First Sergeants Association and Airman and Family Readiness Office, and used to help Airmen this Christmas."

The prize money was distributed to Airmen in need over the December Unit Training Assembly and will hopefully help bring a brighter Christmas to a few 442 FW Airmen and their families.
