WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- With skyrocketing costs due to inflation, Air Force leadership is seeking ways to cut costs and to make up the shortfall.
"A box of staples costs $200 now," said Col. Mike Leonas, the wing commander. "We just don't have the budget for that, and everyone knows loose papers are a hazard to the aircraft. So, we decided to protect the jets in the best way we could, by auctioning them off to good homes."
The auction is scheduled for Friday, April 31st, 2025, and will be open anyone who is still reading this who hasn't caught on that it's an April Fools joke. Happy spring!
