442nd CES visit Training Certification Center Published March 26, 2010 By Senior Master Sgt. Joseph H. Hodges Jr. 442nd Civil Engineers Squadron WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- Feb. 28 through March 5, the 442nd Civil Engineers Squadron at Whiteman AFB, Mo. went on a temporary duty assignment to the Air Force Reserve Command Expeditionary Combat Support Training Certification Center, at Dobbins Air Reserve Base. This was a special TDY for the 442nd CES because when the training center first came into existence, the squadron was the first to go through the curriculum. The training center allows individuals the opportunity to achieve upgrade training to 5-level (journeyman skill level) and 7-level (craftsman skill level) by presenting the opportunity to get uninterrupted training as well as to provide specialized equipment that may not be available at the trainees' home station. For units that are scheduled to TDY to Silver Flag or units that are preparing for operational readiness inspections the training center has a curriculum in place to prepare these units for success. One unique aspect of the training center is that units that have special training needs or that have certifications that are not normally available to them at home station may contact the training staff and develop a specific training schedule that meets their needs. The training center is available to active-duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard units. It is positioned to be one of the premiere training locations for professional military training and certification. The training staff is highly motivated and very innovative as it relates to providing students with realistic, scenario-based training that is as close to real life as possible. The instructors are also able to certify individuals in courses that may not be otherwise available. The management staff is dedicated to providing deploying units the best possible training to ready them for whatever mission for which they may be preparing. Whether it is to develop your own specific training or to take advantage of specific training courses that are available on site, it is possible that in the next decade the Training and Certification Center will be regarded as the premiere training facility in the Air Force Reserve Command.
