Airman and Family Readiness scheduled to host financial fair Published Jan. 31, 2011 By Heidi Hunt 509th Bomb Wing Public Affairs WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- The Airman and Family Readiness center is scheduled to host its annual financial fair Feb. 23 at the community center here as part of "Military Saves" campaign week. All base members may attend a morning or afternoon session from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Topics covered at the Air Force Global Strike Command financial fair include: Investments and savings, identify theft, home buying, car buying, taxes, spending plan and debt reduction. "Six expert briefers will be on hand to discuss financial issues and answer questions one-on-one," said R.D. Smith, 509th Force Support Squadron community readiness consultant and personal financial advisor. "Attendees can ask the experts specific questions and get specific answers from the experienced individuals who work in the particular field. "We chose topics that are important and relevant to base members right now," Mr. Smith said. "The goal is to help consumers navigate through questions and guide them in the right direction." Personal financial advisor and briefer Debbie Kermick, 509th FSS community readiness consultant, said she looks forward to presenting at the seminar. "I hope base members and their families take advantage of this opportunity to gain knowledge at the financial fair, which can also be very beneficial to their career," she said.
