Mohawk goes exclusively online Published Nov. 28, 2011 By Staff Sgt. Danielle Wolf 442nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- The Mohawk, a monthly publication of the 442nd Fighter Wing, Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., will now be published exclusively online at www.442fw.afrc.af.mil. "I have to admit, I'm going to miss the printed magazine, but the online Mohawk will allow us to provide more up-to-date information and save more than $4,500 every month," said Col. Eric S. Overturf, 442nd Fighter Wing commander. "You'll still get the same great stories, pictures and unit information, and you can even print a hard copy if you're one of the old timers like me who like the printed version better than a computer screen." The printed Mohawk has a distribution of approximately 2,500, while the website receives more than 30,000 hits per month. "I know this is going to be a big change for some people as far as how they get their news," said Lt. Col. David Fruck, 442nd Public Affairs officer. "But the Air Force is doing away with printed publications to save money and get up-to-date with how people like to read their news. This will allow our information to be more timely and accurate." The Mohawk began publication in February 1959. In almost 53 years of publication, more than 600 monthly issues have been printed.
