Tip of the Spear: December 2011 Published Nov. 28, 2011 442nd Fighter Wing WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- Tech. Sgt. Robert Fischer is a vital member of the 442nd SFS Combat Arms section. In his current position as the assistant noncommissioned officer in charge of combat arms, Fischer vigorously collects and implements the latest weapons-training techniques and materiel improvements. An integral part of Fischer's job was inspecting more than 1,000 wing weapons and assisting in the annual qualification of more than 500 Airmen. He was pivotal in the rapid development and implementation of the security forces career field 'Shoot, Move, and Communicate' tactical-qualification course. This vital course provides essential training for the 60-plus members of the squadron, decisively improving defender survivability, individual and team movement, and the delivery of precise, lethal firepower on enemy threats. He was instrumental in providing "just-in-time" weapons qualification on multiple weapons systems for more than 300 wing personnel mobilized in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He coordinated scarce range time with multiple units and branches of service, endured extended duty periods, and provided additional support to deploying personnel. His positive attitude, mentoring skills and hands-on approach are at the core of what makes him the ultimate team player and this month's Tip of the Spear.
