January FSS announcements, Jan. 3-10 Published Jan. 4, 2012 442nd Fighter Wing WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- The following announcements are courtesy of the 509th Force Support Squadron weekly announcements: Fun Night The Whiteman Youth Center is scheduled to host a Youth Center Fun Night, Jan. 20, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Children ages 6-8 years old may take part in closely supervised activities including: Arts and crafts, fitness games in the gym, Wii game challenges and more. Children 9-12 years old may play video games, have computer room access, billiards, foosball, air hockey and games in the gym. The cost is $10 for members and $12 for non-members. You may register your child beginning Jan. 2 by calling (660) 687-5586. The event is open to everyone with base access. 5K Wing Fun Run - Canceled The 509th Bomb Wing was scheduled to conduct a 5K wing fun run, Jan. 13. It was annoucned Jan. 11 that the run will be canceled. Karaoke Missions End, the base club, is scheduled to host "Sing it like a star karaoke" Jan. 13 from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. This event is free and available to adult members only. Active-duty, reserve and National Guard members are eligible to become club members. For more information about attending the event or becoming a club member, you may call (660) 687-4422. Wing Fitness Open House Whiteman Air Force Base will host a Wing Fitness Day Open House Jan. 6 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the base fitness center. The fitness center staff will offer MICROfit testing, which test aerobic endurance, upper-body strength, flexibility and body composition. They will conduct equipment orientations, and 30-minute demonstrations of aerobic classes. There will be a fitness fair with representatives from the SARC, HAWC, family advocacy and Airman and Family Readiness office. Refreshments and prizes will be given during the event. Movies The base theater will show two movies this weekend: Saturday at 7 p.m., it will show "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1," rated PG-13, starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Sunday at 3 p.m., it will show "The Muppets," rated PG, featuring the voices of Jason Segel and Amy Adams. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for youth (3-11 years old.)
