FSS announcements, Jan. 10-17 Published Jan. 11, 2012 Whiteman Force Support Squadron WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- The following announcements are courtesy of the 509th Force Support Squadron: Operation Comfort Cake The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host Operation Comfort Cake Jan. 19, 6-8 p.m. The event is for spouses whose sponsors are getting ready to deploy, on a remote deployment or temporary duty, are currently deployed or have just returned from a deployment. Representatives from A&FR will be available to provide information and take questions about the deployment process. You may bring and share your favorite cake and/or cake recipe. All recipes will be put into a recipe booklet for members to keep. Free child monitoring will be available upon request. The event will take place at the Airman and Family Readiness Center here. Zumba Fitness The Whiteman Community Center is hosting zumba fitness instructed by Arielle Zieja at the following times: Monday and Wednesday, 4:45 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m. Classes are $4 or a punch card for 10 classes is available for $35. Boss & Buddy Night Mission's End, the base club here, is scheduled to host boss and buddy night Wednesdays from 4-7 p.m. Coworkers may attend during that time and purchase chicken wings at 40 cents per wing. Youth Programs The Whiteman Air Force Base Youth Center has sports programs available throughout the year to students from ages 2-12. The next sessions for tumbling, cheerleading and hip hop dance, music instruction, and ballet and tap dance will begin in February. The center is also taking registrations for indoor soccer. Movies The base theater will show two movies this weekend: Saturday at 7 p.m., it will show "New Year's Eve," rated PG-13, starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Jessica Biel. Sunday at 3 p.m., it will show "Arthur Christmas," rated PG, featuring James McAvoy and Jim Broadbent. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for youth (3-11 years old.)
