Team Whiteman hosted a Twilight Show here, May 18.

The Twilight Show was designed by command to thank Team Whiteman for their work with the airshow. Airmen, dependents and retirees congregated at the five-bay hangar for live music from new-wave '80s cover band the Zeros, a parachuting demonstration by the Army Golden Knights and flight displays by airplanes - both old and new .

Brig. Gen. Eric S. Overturf, 442nd Fighter Wing commander, was on hand for the festivities and presented coins the Golden Knights.

Overturf said the Twilight Show was the Air Force's way of thanking its members and families.

"Events like the Twilight Show are fantastic," he said. "They allow the Air Force and aviation lovers to thank the service members by showing them what air power is all about."

Army Staff Sgt. Daniel Cook, Golden Knights paratrooper, agreed.

"Airshows give the people a chance to see the modern military up close and personal," he said. "It helps establish a rapport, and we get to show military members at their best."

Retired Marine Lt. Col Pete Coz, who was on base to fly a Russian Mi-24 Hind-D helicopter in the Wings over Whiteman airshow, said it was just as fun to watch events, like Twilight Show, as it is to fly in them.

Chris Wood, a civilian member of the T-38 demonstration team, who performed at the airshow, said these events bring people together.

"These shows are a great way to get young people fired up and show them the capabilities of our aircraft," he said.

Several military veterans attended the performance. As Overturf shook the hand of a veteran for the final time that night, he remarked upon how many people made the Twilight Show successful.

"It's gratifying -  the support we get from dependents, veterans and families," he said. "I'm glad we could give something back to thank them for all they do. We couldn't do any of this without them."
