Maj. Brianne Newman is a traditional reservist and registered dietitian assigned to the 442nd Medical Squadron. When not performing her reserve duties, Newman is a full-time student in the pre-med program at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Va. Her "can-do, will-do" attitude exemplifies her dedication to service before self and selection as the Tip of the Spear.

Assigned to the medical squadron less than a year ago, Newman quickly immersed herself in service to the health of 442nd Fighter Wing Airmen. Her first unit training assembly with the medical squadron, she developed and organized Be Well classes to meet fitness program requirements for members failing their fit-to-fight tests and then presented the classes. She then provided one-on-one diet counseling to those on the program during her second UTA. Additionally, she coordinated with the 509th Health and Wellness Center to provide body composition testing using bod-pod technology and became a physical training leader.

Most recently, Newman volunteered to organize the first annual 442nd Fighter Wing 5-kilometer fun run and walk. Participation in the run included 85 wing members in four age divisions. Newman's outstanding response to the needs of 442nd Fighter Wing Airmen, typifies her professionalism and dedication to duty and makes her the Tip of the Spear winner for June.
