Senior Airman Wesley Wright is a public affairs journalist in the 442nd Fighter Wing. As a new journalist awaiting technical training, he has more-than-proven himself as a distinguished writer and photographer. Since January, he has published more than 30 stories and hundreds of photos. His story about the active association coming to Whiteman was nationally recognized and distributed, gaining attention from AFRC, www.af.mil, and dozens of A-10 enthusiast websites.

Wright used spare time in the office to learn software programs for graphics, design and layout with minimal assistance. He assisted in maintaining the public website and social media page when the air Reserve technicians were on leave or temporary duty. Wright earned second place as Air Force Reserve Command Outstanding New Writer of the Year 2011 without even having attended formal technical training. He also greatly contributed to the Mohawk earning second-place publication in the 2011 AFRC media contest.

He assisted with protocol detail outside his normal job duties with changes and assumptions of command and retirements as well as provided photography support for more than a dozen functions so far in 2012. His sat on the committee for the annual family day and wing picnic and provided PA guidance and support. Wright left in July for the Defense Information School, where he will attend formal technical training as a journalist, photographer and spokesperson for the Air Force - there is no doubt he will greatly succeed in the PA career field. It is for these reasons, he is the July 2012 Tip of the Spear.
