The 442d Fighter Wing announced the launch of a new mobile application on the USAF Connect platform March 22, 2019.

The app, a comprehensive platform built to encompass all US Air Force organizations, offers each wing its own section – called a Favorite – that can be customized to fit the needs of the individual unit.

The 442 FW Favorite contains 18 modules as of launch time, and includes news pulled in from the wing’s website, links to fact sheets and important information for newcomers, and modules that display the wing’s Facebook and Twitter feeds.

Other modules contain fitness information, family readiness and support, and a calendar that displays all the events hosted on Whiteman Air Force Base by the 509th Force Support Squadron. Emergency contact info, local weather, and the ability to receive real-time notifications round off the Favorite’s feature set, though more can be added as necessary.

The USAF Connect app itself is built to meet the needs of the total force. It includes links to Air Force news; the Facebook Pages of both Gen. David Goldfein, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, and Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Kaleth Wright; a fitness calculator to help keep track of physical fitness test scores; and an Air Force-wide directory.

The app is also Common Access Card enabled. That is, if members have a mobile smart card reader, it provides access to sites that require a CAC to access, such as the Air Force Portal, the Air Force Reserve Order Writing System, and the Defense Travel System. Mobile CAC readers may be purchased individually, or through GSA at the unit’s discretion.

The USAF connect app is free, and is available on the Google Play store for Android, and the Apple App store for iPhone.
