Chief Master Sergeant Lisa M. Furgeson is the command chief master sergeant for the 442d Fighter Wing, Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo. As the wing's senior enlisted leader, Chief Furgeson serves as the primary advisor to the commander on matters concerning the mission effectiveness, readiness, training, health, welfare and morale of more than 1,800 assigned military members.
Chief Furgeson was born in Flint, Mich., on 21 Sep 1970. She enlisted in the Air Force in 1988 and began her active duty career as a Jet Engine Mechanic for the 86th Component Repair Squadron at Ramstein AFB, Germany. Then she moved to the 93d CRS, Castle AFB, Calif. In 1992, she left active duty and joined the Reserve Command as a part of the 944th Maintenance Squadron at Luke AFB, Ariz. While performing the duties of a jet engine mechanic, she participated in deployments to Hawaii twice and Denmark once. She also participated in Gun Smoke at Nellis AFB in 1995, achieving a 2nd place finish over all. In 2003, Chief Furgeson cross trained into the Maintenance Data Analysis field for almost three years. In October 2005, she obtained the position as First Sergeant of the 944th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Luke AFB. She held this position for one year and was part of operation Brilliant Arrow at Spangdahlem Airbase, Germany. In October of 2006, she transferred to the 302d MSF at Peterson AFB, Colo., due to a BRAC action at the 944th. She was then selected to take over the newly stood-up 34th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron in May of 2008. In July, 2010, Chief Furgeson moved to the 302d MXS. October 2011, Chief Furgeson volunteered for a short notice deployment to Bagram Air Field 8 Jan - 12 May 2012 where she was the First Sergeant for the 455th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron. In December 2012, Chief Furgeson was selected at the 954th Reserve Support Squadron senior enlisted leader at Scott AFB, Ill., and was hand-picked to be the senior enlisted leader for the entire Joint Transportation Reserve Unit in December of 2014. As the senior enlisted leader, she advised the commander on matters influencing the health, morale, welfare and effective utilization for all branches' reserve enlisted members within the unit.
