Complaining of long commute times from their homes in Lee's Summit and Kansas City, the members of the 442d Fighter Wing voted to relocate back to Richards-Gebaur Air Reserve Station, where the wing made its home prior to moving to Whiteman AFB in 1991.

"It's a shame, really, that it's taken this long," the wing commander said, "to realize that this is an April Fool's joke. We may defend democracy, but we, ourselves, do not get to choose where our wing is located."
