COLONEL MICHAEL T. SCHULTZ

Col Mike Schultz is Commander of the 476th Fighter Group which is classically associated with the 23rd Fighter Group aligned under the 23rd Rescue Wing.  The 476th is a geographically separated unit from its parent Wing which is the 442d Fighter Wing located at Whiteman AFB, MO.  The 476th has been engaged in both combat operations and non-combat operations in Afghanistan, Korea, and Europe since 2008.

Prior to this assignment, he was the Deputy Division Chief, Total Force Enterprise (TFE) Management Division, Directorate of Strategic Plans, Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon, Washington DC. The TFE is responsible for assessing the optimum component force mix of Regular Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserves across the spectrum of Air Force mission sets. It conducts business case and force composition analyses, working with MAJCOM, NGB and other Air Staff entities to implement Total Force initiatives. 

He received his commission through ROTC at Angelo State University and began his career as a missile launch officer in 1991.  He has served as a Missile Crew Instructor/Evaluator, Fighter Squadron chief of Standardization and Evaluation, Fighter Squadron Assistant Director of Operations, Fighter Squadron Scheduling Chief, Operations Group chief of Standardization and Evaluation, Fighter Squadron Director of Operations and Training. Col Schultz has flown in both Operation's SOUTHERN WATCH and ENDURING FREEDOM and has deployed ISO South Korea's theatre support agreement.  He is from Jacksonville, Florida.  He and his wife Lisa were married in 2004.  They have one child, Kalyn.
